PAUL TELLS OF HIS WORK- CONTINUE
ACTS 26:26-27...FOR THE KING KNOWETH OF THESE THINGS, BEFORE WHOM ALSO I SPEAK FREELY; FOR I AM PERSUADED THAT NONE OF THESE THINGS ARE HIDDEN FROM HIM; FOR THIS THING WAS NOT DONE IN A CORNER. KING AGRIPPA, BELIEVEST THOU THE PROPHETS? I KNOW THAT THOU BELIEVEST.
Paul said, King Agrippa. I can speak to you with all boldness, because you know about these things. I am sure that you have taken notice of every one of them, for this thing has not happened hidden away in a corner. King do you believe the prophets? I know that you do.
It is possible to believe facts without them being meaningful to you. We may know the facts of the gospel–that Jesus died for our sins and rose again. But our Relationship to these facts is the thing that is essential.
ACTS 26:28-29...THEN AGRIPPA SAID UNTO PAUL, ALMOST THOU PERSUADEST ME TO BE A CHRISTIAN. AND PAUL SAID, I WOULD TO GOD, THAT NOT ONLY THOU, BUT ALSO ALL THAT HEAR ME THIS DAY, WERE BOTH ALMOST, AND ALTOGETHER SUCH AS I AM, EXCEPT THESE BONDS.
King Agrippa said to Paul, in this short time you almost persuade me to be a Christian. Paul said to him my prayer to God is that you and all the rest of you who are listening to me today might become what I am–except, of course, for these chains.
So you know that being almost being a Christian and still be lost. A lot of people have been almost receiving God but die and go to hell. Either we accept Christ or we don’t accept Christ. Either you trust Christ or you don’t truest Christ. Either He is your Savior or He is not your Savior.
Paul said to king Abrippa, I WOULD TO GOD, THAT NOT ONLY THOU, BUT ALSO ALL THAT HEAR ME THIS DAY, WERE BOTH ALMOST, AND ALTOGETHER SUCH AS I AM, EXCEPT THESE BONDS.
Paul was saying that he longs for them to have Christ as he does, except for the chains. For he would not want anyone to have to wear the chains. This was a man that for a few years before bound Christians in chains and put them to death. Now he wanted them to except Christ and become a Christian.
There was a great change in the Life of Saul of Tarsus after he excepted Christ.
After Jesus was raised from the dead, there is another and coming judgment. For Jesus is seated on the throne and he will be our judge one day. Either you have Him or you don’t.
ACTS 26:30-32....AND WHEN HE HAD THUS SPOKEN, THE KING ROSE UP, AND THE GOVERNOR, AND BERNICE, AND THEY THAT SAT WITH THEM; AND WHEN THEY WERE GONE ASIDE, THEY TALKED BETWEEN THEMSELVES, SAYING, THIS MAN DOETH NOTHING WORTH OF DEATH OR OF BONDS. THEN SAID AGRIPPA UNTO FESTUS, THIS MAN MIGHT HAVE BEEN SET AT LIBERTY, IF HE HAD NOT APPEALED UNTO CAESAR.
Then the king, the Governor, Bernice, and all the others got up, and after leaving they said to each other, This man has not down anything for which he should die or be put in prison. And Agrippa said to Festus, this man could have been released if he had not appealed to the emperor.
In Romans Paul expressed his longing to go to Rome. So he is going there now.
In Romans 1:10-11 we find that he making a request...if by any means now at length I might have a prosperous journey by the will of God to come unto you. For I long to see you, that I may impart unto you some spiritual gift, to the end ye may be established.
So he is going to Rome. It was a prosperous journey in that it was the will of God that he should go to Rome. Paul was willing to go because it was the will of God, for him to spread the gospel.
