JESUS INSTRUCTIONS TO US
MARK 1:22....THEY WERE ASTONISHED AT HIS DOCTRINE; FOR HE TAUGHT THEM AS ONE THAT HAD AUTHORITY.
Jesus Christ is the world’s greatest teacher. During His earthly ministry in Palestine, He was most convincing and most inspiring. Robert Horton writes of His teaching; “Out of a perfect relation with God flows his teaching like a crystal stream. It flashes with light. It quenches the thirst of the soul. It cuts deep channels, lays bare the heart, breaks it in penitence and tears.
Mark in his Gospel states that the people were astonished at Jesus, teaching because He taught them as having authority. Barclay tell us why this was so; “Wherein did Jesus’ teaching differ so much from the teaching of the scribes? He taught them with personal authority. No scribe ever gave a decision on his own. He would always begin, there is a teaching that... and would then quote all his authorities. If he made a statement he would buttress it with this, that and the next citation or quotation from the great legal masters of the past. How different was Jesus. when Jesus spoke, He spoke with utter independence, he cited no authorities and quoted no experts. He with the finality of the voice of God. to the people it was a breeze from heaven to hear someone speak like that. The terrific, positive certainty of Jesus was the very antithesis of the careful quotations of the scribes. The note of personal authority rang out—and that is a note which captures the ear of ever man.”
Christ is the teacher of truth. We have been TAUGHT BY HIM.. Eph. 4:21. He teaches by example, by word, by deed—HE SUFFERED.....LEAVING US AN EXAMPLE.. I PETER 2:21. LEARN OF ME. Said Jesus, AND YE SHALL FIND REST UNTO YOUR SOULS. MATT. 11:29.
Study God’s word of truth, and learn of Him the instructions that He left us when He went back to heaven. His word teaches of mercy, compassion, and forgiveness.
So us study His word that we may know what His instructions is for us.[/center]
