REDEEMED BY PRECIOUS BLOOD.
I PETER 1:17-21
I PETER 1:19...BUT WITH THE PRECIOUS BLOOD OF CHRIST, AS OF A LAMB WITH-OUT BLEMISH AND WITHOUT SPOT.
I. HOLY FEAR.
Peter says God is not a heartless tyrant, but the Father. When Jesus’ disciples asked Him to teach them how to pray, He said they should begin by saying, OUR FATHER WHICH ART IN HEAVEN. LUKE 11:2.
Peter says if ye call on Him as Father, you should lead your lives as sojourners in referent fear. God is completely faith, He judges impartially based on every man’s work. The word judge means to separate or distinguish and then to evaluate and make a decision.
If we have accepted the redemption offered by the Father, we have no reason to fear Him as judge. The Father accepted Christ’s obedient surrender of His life as an offering which is able to cleanse every sin of every human being of all time.
Not with perishable things such as silver or gold (see 18) emphatically portrays the kind of things that could not buy our redemption. The blood of Christ is precious because of the nature of the One who died as a ransom for fallen humanity.
If the guilt of sin is so great that nothing can satisfy it but the blood of Jesus; and the filth of sin is so great that nothing can fetch out the stain thereof but the blood of Jesus, how great, how heinous, how sinful must the evil of sin be.
II. FAITH AND HOPE.
Just as Jesus Christ existed before the world was created, so the plan of salvation was formulated before history began.
Before God said, let there be light and before there were human sinners to be redeemed, Christ, in the eternal counsel of God, had already been chosen as the Redeemer.
This redemption has been revealed in Jesus of Nazareth in these last times for the sake of everyone who needs a savior—which means everyone.
It is only through Jesus Christ that a person can believe in God.
If anyone don’t believe and have their hope in Jesus Christ, and don’t believe that God raised Him from the dead and glorified Him as the Savior of the world, they are not trusting in the living God, and they have no hope.
CONCLUSION
God wants us to be people filled with hope. Such hope begins with faith—being firmly persuaded of the identity of Christ, the biblical story of Christ, and the promises of Christ.
There is no greater testimony for the truth of Christianity than for us to live hopeful, faith-filled lives in a world groping for answers.
