ASK AND KNOCK LUKE 11:9....JESUS SAID, ASK, AND IT SHALL BE GIVEN YOU; SEEK, AND YE SHALL FIND; KNOCK, AND IT SHALL BE OPENED UNTO YOU. In this computer age, when almost everything is programmed to happen at a precise time and in a predetermined manner even the child of God sometimes falls victim to the spirit of automation. It would be a neat package if our lives were programmed so that God saw to our needs, our desires, and our aspirations without our having to energize though or effort. Unfortunately, it does not work that way. True, God does see to many aspects of our lives unknown to us. His protection, guidance, and watch-care are ever in the hands of His angels; but, in a larger sense, what we receive from Him does not come automatically. Instead, He teaches us to ask, seek, and knock through prayer. It is not that we are trying to attract His attention to our insufficiencies, for He already knows our needs. Instead, through the persistent quest of His favor, we ourselves are changed. Through supplication, dedication, and consecration, we become more acceptable recipients of the things He would grant us. There is an area of conscious effort which one must put forth to tap the resources of heaven. Those who wait for them without this active expectation will undoubtedly be disappointed. We must pray.
