UNIVERSAL FAMINE
REV. 6:5-6...AND WHEN HE HAD OPENED THE THIRD SEAL, I HEARD THE THIRD BEAST SAY, COME AND SEE. AND I BEHOLD, AND LO A BLACK HORSE; AND HE THAT SAT ON HIM HAD A PAIR OF BALANCES IN HIS HAND.
AND I HEARD A VOICE IN THE MIDST OF THE FOUR BEASTS SAY, A MEASURE OF WHEAT FOR A PENNY, AND THREE MEASURES OF BARLEY FOR A PENNY; AND SEE THOU HURT NOT THE OIL AND THE WINE.
The third seal, opening release a black horse and its rider. The rider of the black horse holds in his hand a pair of balance. Food in small quantities is measured out to the family; people of the great tribulation. The famine will affect all people, with the exception of the wine and oil, (the sealed Jewish remnant.) (Rev. 6:5-6; 9:4).We see here that the black horse represents the great famine, during the tribulation period. Remember it will not affect the raptured church. You see the wine and oil represents the remnant from Israel that will be hid away from the antichrist, we will study about that soon.
During the first half of the tribulation there will be a time of prosperity and earthly peace. The Antichrist will use the key of peace and prosperity to sway the leaders of the nations to follow his deceitful ways. In the last three and one half years of the great tribulation the Antichrist will be revealed as the man of sin.
The people will also suffer under the plagues of God’s wrath. This period will be climaxed by the Armageddon and the judgment of the sheep and goat nations. The Antichrist will be cast into the lake of fire with the False Prophet; while Satan will be bound in the pit for one thousand years during the reign of Christ on the earth.
Those that will be slain by the sword of the False Prophet will be mildly, in effect, comparative with those who are slain with hunger. “They that be slain with the sword are better than they that be slain with hunger; for these pine away, stricken through for want of the fruits of the field”. Lamentations 4:9.
Death in many ways will reign throughout the great tribulation. Death will be the last enemy to be destroyed in the lake of fire. (I Cor. 15:26). REV. 20:14..AND DEATH AND HELL WERE CAST INTO THE LAKE OF FIRES. THIS IS THE SECOND DEATH.
During the lifetime of Elisha the prophet, there was an awful famine in Samaria, which could be a true picture of the famine of the great tribulation. (II Kings 6:26-29).
The awful tragedy that occurred during the destruction of Jerusalem in A. D. 70, depicts the catastrophe that will befall the people of the great tribulation. When Titus led the Roman armies against the holy city, the people were besieged within the walls and could not escape nor receive food from the outside. During this conflict and famine, 1,100,000 people died from starvation, the sword, and crucifixion. The dead bodies of men, women, and also children were found in every street and home throughout the city.
The daughter of Eleasar, a wealthy man who lived beyond Jericho, fled to the city of Jerusalem and also was besieged within the walls during the great famine. When the families; Jews heard that she had food in her lodging place, they demanded that she bring forth what food she had hidden in her house.
The Scriptures reveal the awful sufferings of mankind that will be repeated during the great tribulation. I don't want to be here and don't intend too, I plan to go in the rapture.
Lets be prepared. (Shepherd)
