THE LOCUST DEMONS
This is still some of the trumpet judgements, hope it don’t confuse you.
REV. 9: 1-5... AND THE FIFTH ANGEL SOUNDED, AND I SAW A STAR FALL FROM HEAVEN UNTO THE EARTH; AND TO HIM WAS GIVEN THE KEY OF THE BOTTOMLESS PIT.
AND HE OPENED THE BOTTOMLESS PIT; AND THERE AROSE A SMOKE OUT OF THE PIT, AS THE SMOKE OF A GREAT FURNACE; AND THE SUN AND THE AIR WERE DARKENED BY REASON OF THE SMOKE OF THE PIT.
ANT THERE CAME OUT OF THE SMOKE LOCUSTS UPON THE EARTH; AND UNTO THEM WAS GIVEN POWER, AS THE SCORPIONS OF THE EARTH HAVE POWER.
AND IT WAS COMMANDED THEM THAT THEY SHOULD NOT HURT THE GRASS OF THE EARTH, NEITHER ANY GREEN THINGS, NEITHER ANY TREE; BUT ONLY THOSE MEN WHICH HAVE NOT THE SEAL OF GOD IN THEIR FOREHEADS.
AND TO THEM IT WAS GIVEN THAT THEY SHOULD NOT KILL THEM, BUT THAT THEY SHOULD BE TORMENTED FIVE MONTHS; AND THEIR TORMENT WAS AS THE TORMENT OF A SCORPION, WHEN HE STRIKETH A MAN.
(Read Rev. 9:6-12).
The firth trumpet sounding brings an angel, referred to as a s ta r, out of heaven. To him is given the key of the bottomless pit. The pit is hell, where Satan will be cast. He will be bound for one thousand years. REV. 20:1-3... AND I SAW AN ANGEL COME DOWN FROM HEAVEN, HAVING THE KEY OF THE BOTTOMLESS PIT AND A GREAT CHAIN IN HIS HAND.
AND HE LAID HOLD ON THE DRAGON, THAT OLD SERPENT, WHICH IS THE DEVIL, AND SATAN, AND BOUND HIM A THOUSAND YEARS,
AND CAST HIM INTO THE BOTTOMLESS PIT, AND SHUT HIM UP, AND SET A SEAL UPON HIM, THAT HE SHOULD DECEIVE THE NATIONS NO MORE, TILL THE THOUSAND YEARS SHOULD BE FULFILLED; AND AFTER THAT HE MUST BE LOOSED A LITTLE SEASON.
The pit contains fire–at least smoke as from a great furnace will come out of the bottomless pit. (Rev. 9:1-12).
The locusts are not ordinary earthly locusts, but are the demons of hell loosed upon the earth during the great tribulation to torment men. The fallen angels that sinned against God are reserved unto the day of these judgments. The star angel could be one of the trumpet angel, but not one of the fallen angels.
JUDE 6..AND THE ANGELS WHICH KEPT NOT THEIR FIRST ESTATE, BUT LEFT THEIR OWN HABITATION, HE HATH RESERVED IN EVERLASTING CHAINS UNDER DARKNESS UNTO THE JUDGMENT OF THE GREAT DAY.
II PETER 2:4..FOR IF GOD SPARED NOT THE ANGELS THAT SINNED, BUT CAST THEM DOWN TO HELL, AND DELIVERED THEM INTO CHAINS OF DARKNESS, TO BE RESERVED UNTO JUDGMENT;
The angels that sinned will be used to promote the wrath of God upon mankind.
REV. 9:14-15..SAYING TO THE SIXTH ANGEL WHICH HAD THE TRUMPET, LOOSE THE FOUR ANGELS WHICH ARE BOUND IN THE GREAT RIVER EUPHRATES.
AND THE FOUR ANGELS WERE LOOSED, WHICH WERE PREPARED FOR AN HOUR, AND A DAY, AND A MONTH, AND A YEAR, FOR TO SLAY THE THIRD PART OF MEN.
The bodily shape of the demons will be like unto horses prepared unto battle. They will have breastplates of iron, and on their heads will be crowns of gold. The faces of the demons will be as the faces of men, and their hair as the hair of women. Their teeth will be as the teeth of lions, and their tails like the tails of scorpions. They will have stingers in their tails and will be given power to hurt men for five months.
The effect of the locusts will be as when an earthly scorpion strikes a man. The faces of men will become darkened because of intense pain. Ordinarily, men who are stung by locusts would die; but then men will not die from the demon stings–they will be tormented. Men will desire to die, but death will flee away from them. The 144.000 Jews, or the saved remanant at Petra
will not be hurt by the stinging demons, for the will have received the seal of God upon their foreheads. (Rev. 7:2-8; 9:4).
The prophet Joel beheld in a vision the demon locusts as horses, he referred to them as the armies of God. The sound of the horses was as the noise of a flame of fire that devours the stubble. They ran upon the top of the mountains; they ran like mighty men. They climbed the walls like men of war; they climbed upon the house and entered the windows like a thief.
At the sounding of the fifth trumpet the sun and moon will be darkened, and the stars will withdraw their shining. It will be a day of darkness and gloominess–a day such as men have never before witnessed. Neither will there be another day like it. A fire will devour before them, and the earth will quake and become as desolate wilderness.
(See Joel 2:1-10).
