NEW HEAVEN AND THE NEW EARTH.
REV. 21:1... AND I SAW A NEW HEAVEN AND A NEW EARTH; FOR THE FIRST HEAVEN AND THE FIRST EARTH WERE PASSED AWAY; AND THERE WAS NO MORE SEA.
All things will be created new. The old heaven and the old earth will pass away, and cannot be found. In the new creation there will be no need of the sun or moon, the Father and the Son will be the light. God said, BEHOLD, I MAKE ALL THINGS NEW. REV. 21:5.
In the new world the saints of God will be in their glorified bodies, fashioned like the glorious body of Jesus. (Phil. 3:21; I John 3:2).
In the beginning God created the first heaven and the first earth. The second day of His creative work God created another heaven; he called the firmament Heaven. (Gen. 1:6-8).
The fourth day God made the sun and the moon, and also the stars. He placed the sun and moon, and the stars, in the firmament heaven to give light upon the earth. There are three spheres called heaven; the first heaven, the firmament heaven, and the cloud heaven of the midair. Paul was caught up to the third heaven. (II Cor. 12:1-2). The heavens are the Lord’s but He has given the earth unto the sons of men (Psa. 115:16).
In the vision John saw the new heaven and the new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and in the new earth there was no sea. He also saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of the new heaven, prepared as a bride for her husband. Actually the holy city is not a bride; it is adorned as a bride. (Rev. 21:1-2).
The new city will be the dwelling place of the Father and the Lamb. The city is referred to as the Lamb’s wife. The city is the home of the bride, the wife of the Lamb who has made herself ready (Rev. 19:7-8).
The new creation consists of a new heaven, a new earth, and the holy city of God. In these new created spheres all things will be created new; old things will pass away with the passing of the old earth, even the seas. (II Peter 3:10; Rev. 20:11; 21:1, 5),
At the time of the White Throne judgment the old heaven will pass away; the holy city will descend out of the new created heaven from God, and God himself will dwell in the holy city–not in the new heaven. The Lamb will be the light thereof. There will not be a temple in the holy city, but the throne of God will be in the midst of the city (Rev. 21:22; 22:3).
The gates of the holy city will never be closed, and there will be no night. The twelve gates will remain open, and the people of God will be able to go in and out at the gates. The new earth will not be a dwelling place for a perpetual generation of human beings. The saved saints of God will inherit the new earth. They will make up a nation of saved people and will walk upon the new earth. Peter said that God’s people are a royal priesthood, and holy nation (I Peter 2:9; Rev. 21:24-26; 22:14).
The holy city with its twelve gates, and twelve foundations beneath the walls which are great and high, is the city that Abraham desired to behold–a city which has foundations, and the builder is God. (Hebrews 11:10).
Paul said, FOR HERE WE HAVE NO CONTINUING CITY, BUT WE SEEK ONE TO COME. HEBREWS 13:14.
The kings and priests of God and of Crist will bring their glory (from the millennium) into the Holy city (Rev. 5:9-10; 20:6; 21:26-27).
Moses was not privileged to see the face of God, but the king and priests of God will see His face. The saints of God will see Him as He is, for they will be made like Him (I John 3:2; Rev. 22:4).
In his vision John measured the holy city. He tells us that it is foursquare; and the height, the breath, and the length are equal in dimension. The city is twelve furlongs, equal to 1500 miles. Actually the city is surrounded with 6,000 miles of walls, and the walls are great and high.
The dimension of the base of the city is 2,250,000 square miles. The volume of the city is 3,375,000,000 cubit miles, and can hold ten times all the waters in the rivers, lakes, and oceans of the earth. The walls measure in diameter 144 cubits–which is 216 feet.
The holy city will be the fairest of them all. Its light will be greater than the sun, and the saved people of God will walk upon the new earth in the light of the glorious city. The city is pure gold, and the walls are made of precious stones. The gates are twelve pearls, and every several gate is of one pearl. The street of the city is pure gold and the tree of life extends her branches on either side of the river of life, which issues from beneath the throne of God.
REV. 22:1-5.. AND HE SHOWED ME A PURE RIVER OF WATER OF LIFE, CLEAR AS CRYSTAL, PROCEEDING OUT OF THE THRONE OF GOD AND OF THE LAMB.
IN THE MIDST OF THE STREET OF IT, AND ON EITHER SIDE OF THE RIVER, WAS THERE THE TREE OF LIFE, WHICH BARE TWELVE MANNER OF FRUITS, AND YIELDED THEIR FRUIT EVERY MONTH; AND THE LEAVES OF THE TREE WERE FOR THE HEALING OF THE NATIONS.
AND THERE SHALL BE NO MORE CURSE; BUT THE THRONE OF GOD AND OF THE LAMB SHALL BE IN IT; AND HIS SERVANTS SHALL SERVE HIM;
AND THEY SHALL SEE HIS FACE; AND HIS NAME SHALL BE IN THEIR FOREHEADS.
AND THERE SHALL BE NO NIGHT THERE; AND THEY NEED NO CANDLE, NEITHER LIGHT OF THE SUN; FOR THE LORD GOD GIVETH THEM LIGHT; AND THEY SHALL REIGN FOR EVER AND EVER.
What a wonderful day that will be, never no more sin, but peace everlasting.
I hope you understood this lesson on Revelations and did not get too confused.
Blessings to all
